🧑🏼‍🔧 This repository provides Ansible Docker images powered by community. And it contains the CI pipeline for building an Ansible Docker image. Supported architectures are linux/amd64, linux/arm64.

Getting Started

I don't recommend using the source code in this repository directly. Instead, you should use the built Docker image from the ghcr.io repository. The image is built automatically on every commit to the main branch and pushed to the ghcr.io repository.

To use the Ansible Docker image in your DevOps workflows, pull the image from the ghcr.io repository using the following command:

docker pull ghcr.io/jyje/ansible ansible

CI Pipeline

This repository builds and manages Ansible Docker images through an automated CI pipeline. The pipeline has the following key features:

• Automated Build: Docker images are automatically built when commits are made to the main branch
• Multi-architecture Support: Supports both linux/amd64 and linux/arm64 architectures
• Version Control: Each build is automatically versioned and tagged
• Quality Assurance: Built images undergo automated testing to ensure stability
• Automated Deployment: Successfully built images are automatically deployed to the ghcr.io registry

You can skip the CI pipeline by including the --no-ci flag in your commit message.

Usage

To use the Ansible Docker image in your DevOps workflows, follow these steps:

1. (Optional) Pull the Docker image from the ghcr.io repository.

docker pull ghcr.io/jyje/ansible

2. Run the Docker container using the pulled image.

docker run --rm -it ghcr.io/jyje/ansible ansible --help
# or
docker run --rm -it ghcr.io/jyje/ansible ansible-playbook --help
# or
docker run --entrypoint sh --rm -it ghcr.io/jyje/ansible

3. Execute your Ansible playbooks and tasks inside the running container.

Using Specific Version

You can use a specific version of the Ansible Docker image by specifying the version tag. For example, to use version v11.1.0, use the following command:

docker pull ghcr.io/jyje/ansible:v11.1.0

The list of available versions can be found on the ghcr.io repository.

This image provides following utilities preinstalled:

- ansible >= 9.2.0
- python == 3.12.8
- pip

- curl
- git
- jq
- openssh-client
- vim
- wget
