Question

Hi,
I am working on a scientific project involving worms.
I know how to train the network and create training data but I don't have a good assessment about feasibility before i invest a lot of time to generate training datasets:

Would the network be able to detect the following objects ( which are worm eggs) and how much training data would be needed?

Find attached the anotated picture

Kind regards Benjamin

@BenjaminSchaar hi Benjamin,

Thanks for reaching out! YOLOv5 can certainly be trained to detect worm eggs. The amount of training data needed varies, but generally, a few hundred to a few thousand annotated images should suffice, depending on factors like object variability and dataset balance.

To get started, create a diverse set of training data and use our Ultralytics Docs for guidance on training. Feel free to ask if you run into any issues!

Best of luck with your scientific project. Cheers!
