Question

Hello. I'm trying to train the yolov5s model with custom data.
I am interested in the way yolo performs detection with anchor boxes on a grid basis.
I would like to enter only grid cells that meet certain conditions to perform detection, so could you tell me which part of yolo.py I need to modify?
It may be because of a lack of understanding of the structure, but I'm confused whether it's the input layer or the last layer to be touched.
I'd appreciate your help.

👋 Hello @jue0, thank you for your interest in YOLOv5 🚀! Please visit our ⭐️ Tutorials to get started, where you can find quickstart guides for simple tasks like Custom Data Training all the way to advanced concepts like Hyperparameter Evolution.

If this is a 🐛 Bug Report, please provide a minimum reproducible example to help us debug it.

If this is a custom training ❓ Question, please provide as much information as possible, including dataset image examples and training logs, and verify you are following our Tips for Best Training Results.

Requirements

Python>=3.8.0 with all requirements.txt installed including PyTorch>=1.8. To get started:

git clone https://github.com/ultralytics/yolov5 # clone
cd yolov5
pip install -r requirements.txt # install

Environments

YOLOv5 may be run in any of the following up-to-date verified environments (with all dependencies including CUDA/CUDNN, Python and PyTorch preinstalled):

Status

YOLOv5 CI

If this badge is green, all YOLOv5 GitHub Actions Continuous Integration (CI) tests are currently passing. CI tests verify correct operation of YOLOv5 training, validation, inference, export and benchmarks on macOS, Windows, and Ubuntu every 24 hours and on every commit.

@jue0 hi there! In YOLOv5, object detection is performed on a grid basis with anchor boxes. If you only want to perform detection in certain grid cells that meet certain conditions, you can modify the detect() function in yolo.py.

In the detect() function, you can identify the grid cells that meet your desired conditions and perform detection only on those cells. You will need to modify the code that processes the grid cells and performs the detection.

Please note that modifying the detect() function requires a good understanding of the YOLOv5 architecture. It is recommended to refer to the YOLOv5 documentation and familiarize yourself with the structure before making any modifications.

If you have any further questions or need more assistance, feel free to ask.
