@moradfarag hello, Most probably OLED care is handled by hardware/firmware there (same as it happens for any OLED monitor or tv) and it is enabled by default. And i would strongly advice to keep that ON. Can you post a screenshot from AC's page dedicated to that ? You can also upload Since you have 2024 model, can you test latest build with Slash Lightning support from this topic and check if it works for you? Thanks. |

@moradfarag I actually have another idea (tipped by @flukejones) That "flicker free dimming" could be just a brightness control inside driver settings. Can you open your AMD adrenaline settings and try to set brightness there to some lower value (if you are in Eco mode or in Standard + Nvidia Optimus is on?) Or do same inside Nvidia Control Panel if Nvidia Optimus is set to NVidia GPU only ? Does effect of that brightness look similar to what AC does? |

The brightness is only for a custom color profile. Doesn't seem to actually affect the dimming of the panel.

Okay, this is a bit strange. It does have an effect, but not really the correct one. So it decreases the brightness somehow, but not really in the same way the dimming does. For example, the white text stays quite bright when dimmed with G-Helper, whereas when changed with AC the white almost looks grey. Besides that, I can still turn down the slider all the way in AC when the slider in G-Helper is turned all the way down, and it gets really dark. Since this stacks, I think this is maybe some sort of color balance setting? Interesting thing is the differences do not seem to be captured when taking a screenshot, so not sure what to make of that. |

@moradfarag sure, I can tweak brightness / contrast settings :) This build should be much stronger with dimming Can you make a photo of a 0% diming in AC and in GH ? (cause screenshots don't show anything ofc) :) |

@seerge This fixed the plugging/unplugging charger problem (Dimming flashes at 100% for about half a second then goes back to last used Dimming level) but not when going into the 'Display' settings in Windows. Simply clicking on it (not changing any settings within the Display setting) resets the Dimming back to 100% (level is still at set % though) but I'm not sure why doing so would cause it to reset. |

@seerge I will send a video of the behaviours when I get home if it helps. But I do find that it's weird that behaviour happens. Windows seems to be overriding something but not sure why that is just from clicking on the settings. I also found out that the Dimming level also resets when changing color profiles via Display settings. |

@moradfarag it's cause windows apparently resets gamma in quite many different occasions :) Hopefully eventually I will get my hands on actual device or someone will check if there is any hardware interations by using irpmon. |

@nathancdy for Display settings in windows - yes, it resets gamma back to max. IRPMon catches hardware commands that AC can send :) this is purely windows / software specific. AC seem to just set a custom (and already "dimmed") ICC profile each time you drag it's flicker free dimming. I have unchecked and even deleted all ICCs under windows Color Management and after dragging a slider in AC - color profile is back there . So that's how it does it. |

@nathancdy btw I have interesting find what Pixel shifter process does as well. It actually adjusts windows wallpaper a bit (literally moves it sometimes) :D so it seem to matter only if you steer at wallpaper all the time, and have no real-life effect if you have some windows open. |

@daniel-turboprop hello, there is no target mode in G-Helper cause it was a standalone app as part of AC. You either need to save / reuse it or just toggle it on in AC directly. |

@seerge Just for clarification about the problem of this method, for requiring the correct ICC profiles in the system (as in installed through Windows Color Management?), are you referring to the custom ICC profiles AC sets while changing the Flicker-free Dimming level or as in the color gamut presets that AC supplies for us, such as Native, sRGB, P3, etc. I tested the dimming with AC uninstalled using the Native ICC profile, and the dimming levels, from my observation, seem in line with the dimming I remember when using AC (even the slight delay when switching between levels). |

@nathancdy it requires correct profiles in If you have a clean win install, it becomes a problem. This method uses asus own micro-utility, that comes as part of Asus System Control Interface. But it expects ICC files to be present in specific folder. The dimming levels are LITERALLY same, cause it's same thing as AC does. |

@seerge Ah, I see. I thought I didn’t have that folder as I didn’t see the ‘ProgramData’ folder in my C:/ directory, had to search GameVisual folder manually in C:/ to locate it, any idea why that’s the case? Upon searching it’s the same directory as yours, C:\ProgramData\ASUS\GameVisual so not sure why I don’t see it there. |

@seerge - to perform a clean windows install, do you suggest backing up the ICC profiles and then placing them back into that location prior to running G-Helper? Or will G-Helper place them automagically? |

I have the UX3405MA (Zenbook 14 2024) and I guess since it isn't a ROG laptop, I didn't have the GameVisual folder but I found the .icm files in I copied them over and it seems to work. See if you can support this other folder as a fall back option. |

yeah, it works without g-helper, as default Fn+F4/F5 to decrease/increase brightness. |

@Kraven1109 it's not in BIOS. It's just an issue with a mini utility ( Ctrl + FN + [ /] is not possible (unless it emits some WMI code in a log and does nothing already) I had another (crazy) idea. I can try to set brightness in OPPOSITE direction when Ctrl + FN + F4/5 are pressed. To compensate default brightness change and still do dimming Check this build. But keep in mind, that brightness may "flicker" up / down for a second because of that |

@seerge did you upload wrong file? it still do the same thing, as the first version you sent me. Ctrl + Fn + F4/5 adjust dimming and brightness at the same time, and the same direction with step of 10% |

I see. I have disabled AC because it just consumes so much wattage from my
CPU hahaha.
How can I run it standalone without running it as part of AC? Does it help
prevent burn in?
Also - I believe pixel shift and refresh aren't controled by AC right? Just
concerned about the Panel but AC is so bad that G Helper really made
everything much better haha.

@daniel-turboprop i think you need to copy whole folder with that mini-app and run it :) or just find some alternative that dims other windows There is no pixel shift in AC to my best knowledge. There is another mini-app that just shifts your active wallpaper only . But my advice would be just letting windows rotate wallpapers completely with some period, that's way better anyway. |

Btw I just noticed that my whole screen dims after some seconds
automatically - so I guess that should do it right?
Or is this app doing a per window-constant dimming to avoid windows borders
from creating some sort of burn in?
