Description

Berkeley Mono V2 (TX-02) - Italic appears excessively slanted in Rio terminal emulator. The font displays an additional skew effect on top of its native italic style, resulting in overly tilted characters.

Example

The issue is specific to Rio terminal emulator. Other terminal emulators display the font correctly:

  • Rio:

  • Alacritty:

  • Ghostty:

Reproduce

  1. Terminal: Rio
  2. Font: Berkeley Mono V2 - Italic (TX-02)
  3. Editor: NVIM v0.10.2
  4. Theme: zenwritten from zenbones-theme/zenbones.nvim

Attempted Solutions

✅ Successful:

  • Using Berkeley Mono V1
  • Using alternative terminal emulators besides Rio

❌ Unsuccessful:

  • Modified font width setting to Condensed
  • Experimented with different font weight values
