Maybe we should get a list of all email handles @ getmonero , e.g. some others can be seen here* https://lists.autistici.org/message/20200712.204247.39cd8386.en.html micheal@ |
midipoet provided some feedback on the issue stating that there are 2 separate issues here. "misuse" of an email, and who gets an email (e.g. sarang / sarae are no longer with the project anymore). Do we need to list all active getmonero email handles with their role in the project to avoid confusion / let people decide if personalised emails are needed? All the infra is sponsored by the community so what level of transparency are we entitled to? |
I recommend against expanding the scope of this issue to all @getmonero.org emails; please focus on this specific one here. |
If there is work being done on Monero related hardware design and development, would it not make sense to keep all these communications within/from one dedicated email address? That way, if the design and development work needed to be passed on, so could all the email/contact history? |
|
I recommend against narrowing this issue to focus on one specific incident/email; please focus on the elephants in the room, not just the pink one. |
there is not.
They should be, as these at least 2 of these emails are being misused. |
This comment relates to only the [email protected] email address, and does not relate to messages from agents not connecting to the MX. Q-1: Is the resource active and used regularly for its intended purpose? Q-2: Has the email ever originated a SMTP transaction (without a In-Reply-To header) aside from test (for maintenance) messages? Q-3: Do we reply to all messages? A-4: Are we following a rigid ruleset? Q-5: Why is it printed on hardware user manuals distributed at Monero events? Q-6: Why isn't this printed on other user manuals? Q-7: Is there any fraud or commercial activity? Q-8: How much fraud is on this semiprivate (point to point) resource compared to our public mailing list [email protected]? Q-9: How do we deal with commercial requests that are made in good faith? Q-10: Has any request for information been made? Q-11: Is this a constructive or destructive proposal? Q-12: Would the Monero community lose, if destroying this resource? Q-13: What is the efficiency level? Q-14: How long has the resource served hardware enthusiasts inside and outside the Monero community? B - Monero community members in good standing A-16: Is there any stated primary purpose? Q-17: How can information be obtained? Q-18: Has there been abuse, fraud, or deceit using ideas in this bug report as an excuse? |
BUMP .........So whats the go, emails getting shown? |
It doesn't seem like there's an important reason for the [email protected] email to exist, and there's a possibility that the continued use of this email may cause confusion about the "official" nature of the workgroup and any related entities.
My recommendation is that, unless there's a good reason to keep it, this email address/group can be deprecated until it's needed again.
