when browsing the text, the paragraph mark ¶ randomly appears and at different positions in the left margin of the page.

can this be turned off, it is rather annoying. thank you.

Thank you, Reese. This is a known issue I am working on.

  • The use for this is that it allows linking to any part of the page (paragraph, figure, etc.) as an individual resource. It is actually a link that you can right-click and copy URL of. It is hidden by default to reduce visual clutter, but is shown on hover.
  • The problem with it is that the “show on hover” behavior is not sufficiently polished, and actually gets in the way of text selection sometimes. I did a proof of concept of linking to page subrresources, but need to work more on the styling.

For the time being, the mark was moved more to the side to not obstruct text selection.
