Problem Statement

This tool is amazing. However, I think it's lacking the ability to duplicate entire projects along with their associated subtasks. This feature streamlines and accelerates the process of setting up new projects or tasks that share similar structures, content, or workflows.

❔ Possible Solution

  1. Select the project you want to copy

  2. Click on the 3 points icon

  3. Include the option "Make a copy of this project." in the menu displayed

  4. A new copy of the project and its subtasks has been created

⤴️ Describe alternatives you've considered

  1. Select the project you want to copy
  2. Give your mouse a right-click.
  3. "Make a copy of this project."
  4. A new copy of the project and its subtasks has been created

➕ Additional context

This particular functionality plays a pivotal role in streamlining and expediting the intricate task of initiating novel projects or assignments that exhibit parallel structures, content, or workflows.

In practical terms, this deficiency implies that each new project, no matter how closely aligned with a previous one, necessitates manual recreation from the ground up. This not only consumes unnecessary time and effort but also introduces an increased likelihood of oversight or error, given the repetitive nature of the process.

Imagine a scenario where a team embarks on a series of projects, each bearing striking resemblance in terms of tasks and subtasks. Without the capacity to duplicate these project blueprints, team members must tediously recreate the same framework repeatedly. This not only hampers productivity but also undermines consistency across projects, as subtle variations can inadvertently creep in during manual replication.

Now, picture an alternative scenario where the "Ability to copy and paste projects and their subtasks" feature is integrated seamlessly. Upon completing an initial project, the user gains the power to capture its entire structure and intricacies with a simple action. All tasks, subtasks, deadlines, and supplementary materials are duplicated, forming the foundation for a new project. Customization options can then be employed to fine-tune attributes like due dates or specific task descriptions, enabling adaptation to the distinct requirements of the new project.

In essence, this capability serves as a catalyst for efficiency and precision. By allowing users to clone existing projects and subtasks effortlessly, it eradicates the need for redundant effort and minimizes the potential for errors. Consistency is upheld across projects, as identical templates can be used as starting points for various endeavors. Moreover, the feature synergizes seamlessly with collaborative efforts, as team members can swiftly distribute shared tasks based on proven models.

Thank you very much for opening up this issue! I am currently a bit overwhelmed by the many requests that arrive each week, so please forgive me, if I fail to respond personally. I am still very likely to at least skim read your request and I'll probably try to fix all (real) bugs if possible and I will likely review every single PR being made (please, give me a heads up if you intent to do so) and I will try to work on popular requests (please upvote via thumbs up on the original issue) whenever possible, but trying to respond to every single issue over the last years has been kind of draining and I need to adjust my approach for this project to remain fun for me and to make any progress with actually coding new stuff. Thanks for your understanding!

I believe this would be very useful. Let me elaborate a bit. Today i installed Super-Productivity in a colleague's laptop and phone.
His workflow is very simple and repetitive. Every week/couple of weeks he gets a new project and needs to repeat the same exact tasks. If he could clone a project or if there was an option for Default project (with preset settings and tasks), he wouldn't have to create the same (50 or so) tasks everytime there's a new project. He would simply create a new project, or clone an existing one, and everything would be ready to go.
