No placeholder image for missing background image

I noticed, that if there is a background image missing, it will not show anything. I am wondering if we should display a placeholder image instead?

Good point. There may also a delay before the image gets shown (loading time, colorizing time), that would also be a good moment to show a placeholder.

We don't know the size of the image in either case, so the best we can do is show a rect/square of some generic size.

I'm not sure we can distinguish easily between "image not found" and "image loading".
