Just a suggestion, but once a user signs up the page redirects to home i think it could be clearer for the user if they know whether the process worked

Yeah I was going to suggest that signing up should have the same end result as logging in—set a cookie, create a session and redirect to the "actual page" the user wants to see. Sites that make me effectively enter my password twice are a bit annoying 😅
