I try to only download portable applications these days (unless the software doesn't really save any configuration) so I don't lose as much when windows decides to update and break for the 300th time
However this application has a lot of setup involved and it would be a big loss to lose all that effort that one day, I know where the settings are saved but I just cannot bring myself to remember backing up those files and keeping it updated (I know, I've tried)
So I hope a portable version that saves the settings in the same folder can be achieved..

I guess having the option to specify the savedata location is not much effort to code.
Mental note regarding a standalone portable exe-file:
Steam would fail to start the app when the exe-file has been moved after initial registration in the vrmanifest. So the app has to be started once in the new folder and should detect if it has been moved to update it's filepath in it's SteamVR's vrmanifest file.
Currently there's no plan to implement that, but feel free to create a PR.
I'll write here again when I got the time to implement a portable version of the app.
