Is it possible to set the expiration for a message published to a topic?

I want to set the expiration for the message published on a topic. I dod not see any config parameter in the document (something like grails.plugins.activemq.ttl). Is it possible to do. In general, how do I get a handle to JMS so that I can set all the various other properties that are possible?
