Create a "deploy" branch that only includes the .dist directory. Every commit to main triggers a workflow that builds the Astro project and commits the built site (the content from .dist) to the branch "deploy".

  1. This way we can have a separate history of actual builds.
  2. That "deploy" branch can be the one used to deploy the site elsewhere (when moving away from GitHub Pages).
