Outdated requirements break with new pip dependency manager

mendeley has hard version requirements across the board (== instead of >=), many/all of which are now grossly out of date (requests being the most notable example). As a result, our build is now broken, and I'm assuming we're not alone.

Please update your dependencies ASAP.

I think the package is no longer maintained at all, you'd better fork it and update the dependencies on your fork. I have the same issue and this is the only solution
